Unknown name of Jelly found in Perhentian Island's Sea..
Reply Quote

Hi,

I went snorkeling in Perhentian island in Malaysia about 1 week ago. And I encountered a marine life which looks like jellyfish but weren't jellyfish(as told by the boatman). As I do not have much knowledge of marine life, I do hope someone could help me figure out what this is. It is transparent and have a yellowish red dot in the middle. It seems to me that it does not have tentacles. It sometimes will gather together in a cluster or in a line fashion.

Can someone tell me what could this be? Thanks so much!!! :)

Might it have been salp (pelagic tunicates) that you saw?  Here are some pictures: http://www.oceanlight.com/lightbox.php?sp=cyclosalpa_affinis
